Within the polyethylene family, LDPE is the lower-density, more branched branch, which gives it a soft, flexible character-a clear contrast to the stiffness of HDPE. It feels soft, resists low temperatures, handles chemicals well, molds easily, and offers relatively good clarity among polyolefins, all at a low cost, which makes it the workhorse for films, packaging, and flexible products. Low Density Polyethylene Resin (LDPE) shows up almost everywhere-shopping bags, food packaging film, shrink film, stretch wrap, squeeze-bottle liners, agricultural film, and everyday goods that need soft cushioning.

Its key differences from HDPE and LLDPE lie in density, flexibility, and clarity. LDPE has the lowest density and the better softness and transparency, but it gives up strength, rigidity, and heat resistance compared with HDPE. Versus LLDPE, LDPE is easier to process but somewhat lower in strength. So choose based on the use: for soft, clear, low-temperature-friendly film and packaging, LDPE fits better; for strength, stiffness, and load bearing, look toward HDPE or LLDPE instead.

If needed, we can add UV resistance, anti-blocking, and other additive options to better suit film or outdoor use. LDPE flows well and suits blow molding, injection molding, and extrusion with a wide processing window.

Processing Low Density Polyethylene Resin (LDPE) is very forgiving on drying-most grades run as-is, though a simple dry is wise if moisture has crept in, to keep film surfaces clean. When blowing film, coordinate melt temperature and take-off speed to avoid uneven surfaces or gels. Because density and crystallinity are low, shrinkage is relatively small, so tooling design is more forgiving. For applications needing higher strength, note that LDPE is limited on rigidity on its own; consider blending with HDPE or switching to LLDPE to balance softness and strength.
