Description
General purpose ABS pellets combine the strengths of three monomers - acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene - into a single resin. The material offers a well-balanced profile of rigidity and toughness, medium-to-high heat resistance, and solid impact strength, all while keeping a glossy, attractive surface finish.
SABIC's general purpose ABS pellets come in two main lines: injection molding grades and extrusion grades.
Injection molding grades
MG47 is a general-purpose injection molding grade with a well-balanced combination of rigidity and toughness. It holds its dimensions well, colors easily, and can be painted or electroplated, which makes it a common choice for appliance housings, electronic equipment, office supplies, and toys. MG47F is the FDA food-contact version, suited for food containers, tableware, baby bottles, and children's products. MG47N carries NSF 61 certification for potable water contact and is used in water purifiers, pipe fittings, and water-related appliances. MG47U features improved UV resistance, making it a better fit for molded parts that see regular outdoor exposure and need to resist yellowing.
MG94 is a high-flow injection molding grade. Its easy flow enables clean thin-wall molding, so it suits complex thin-wall housings, electronics, and deep-draw parts. MGABS01 is an injection molding grade that combines high impact, high gloss, and good flow, aimed at high-gloss parts where appearance comes first. MGABS02 offers a good balance of flow and impact at a competitive price, a practical option for standard injection molded parts. FXS610SK delivers a sparkle effect and is often used in cosmetic packaging and decorative parts. MG29 provides very high impact strength with good low-temperature toughness, ideal for low-temperature impact parts and tool housings. MG38 is likewise very high impact, balancing toughness with rigidity and fatigue resistance; it is widely used in sports equipment and impact-resistant housings, and MG38F is its FDA version.
Extrusion grades
EX75 is a general-purpose extrusion grade with balanced engineering properties and good dimensional stability, commonly used for extruded sheet, profiles, and machine enclosures. EX39 is the highest-impact extrusion grade, used for thick sheet, boards, and blow-molded parts, with EX39F as its FDA version. EX58 is a high-impact extrusion grade, typically used for sheet and blow molding, and EX58F is its FDA version. GX3800F is a high-impact sheet extrusion grade that is FDA compliant and suitable for food-contact sheet and thermoformed packaging. GRM2600L is a high-impact, chemical-resistant sheet extrusion grade designed specifically for refrigerator liner applications, mainly used for refrigerator inner liners and linings in refrigeration appliances.
