Within a batch and across batches, the color has to stay within an acceptable range, usually measured by ΔE, and it shouldn't drift with time or storage. A well-formulated color can also deliver high-gloss, matte, pearlescent, or metallic finishes to suit different product personalities. Because the color is compounded into the base resin rather than simply painted on, it resists scratching and fading, staying stable through repeated use and cleaning.
